Jinchang Zhenxin Photovoltaic Power Generation Co Ltd, situated in the Xipo Photovoltaic Industrial Park, Jinchuan district, Jinchang city, Gansu province, was founded on Jan 16, 2012, and began grid-connected power generation on July 1, 2013. The power station has been operating safely for 11 years, accumulating a total of 1.742 billion kilowatt-hour of electricity generation.

Jinchang Zhenxin Photovoltaic Power Generation Co Ltd has adopted an adaptive solar tracking system and utilized an original adaptive tracking method. Its power generation capacity is approximately 20 percent higher than that of a fixed photovoltaic power station of the same specification. It currently stands as the largest adaptive solar tracking photovoltaic power station in Asia.

Based on the development orientation of "serving as a crucial hub for the Hexi power grid, serving as a model for energy transformation in industrial cities, and providing robust support for the economic development of Jinchang", the State Grid Jinchang Power Supply Company has gained a profound understanding of the core principles for constructing new power systems and new energy systems. It explores a new development layout that integrates government-enterprise collaboration and integrates grid and source. It adopts various measures to promote the high-quality development of both the power grid and new energy. Guided by the "e-Grid Connection" service guide for new energy (energy storage) dispatching in 2024, the company organized specialized training sessions on new energy grid connection. These sessions covered various aspects such as reviewing network-related test data, verifying protection setting lists, signing grid connection dispatching agreements, configuring security control system strategies, integrating automatic information access, and implementing network security monitoring and protection. The company has planned and coordinated the new energy grid connection work in a unified manner. It rationally arranges the operation mode of the power grid to achieve local balance between power supply and load. It further deepens the concept of "one stop for multiple uses", fosters close collaboration in maintenance at all levels, and minimizes transmission constraints. The company has accelerated the construction of the power grid, actively promoting the scheduled operation of the Hexi main transformer expansion project, and fully participates in the preliminary work of the Longdian-Zhejiang UHVDC power transmission and transformation project, facilitates the approval and construction of the water source substation power transmission and transformation project, and orderly guides the integration of follow-up new energy projects during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period.

According to the requirements of the Jinchang municipal government regarding the new energy development plan during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the first batch of new energy projects under the 14th Five-Year Plan has been fully integrated into the grid. The second batch of new energy projects is scheduled to be connected to the grid successively after the completion of the 750 kV water source substation construction. It is anticipated that by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan, the Jinchang region will be established as a new energy base with a capacity of 10 million kilowatts.

To date, the total installed capacity of new energy in Jinchang region stands at 5.56 million kilowatts, accounting for 75.6 percent (including 4.91 million kilowatts of photovoltaic (PV) capacity and 645,500 kilowatts of wind power capacity).
