SGCC Ranked the First again on Top 500 Enterprises of China

        From 9th to 11th September, 2017 China Top 500 Enterprises Summit was held in Nanchang, Jiangxi province. In the morning of 10th September, China Enterprise Confederation and China Enterprise Directors Association released the 16th China Top 500 Enterprises, China Top 500 Manufacturers and China Top 500 Service Companies. SGCC ranked the first again on both China Top 500 Enterprises and China Top 500 Service Companies.

        Wang Zhongyu, Chairman of China Enterprise Confederation, Lu Xindu, Secretary of Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee, Liu Qi, Governor of Jiangxi province, Liu Qiang, Vice Chairman of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council and leaders of more than 450 enterprises of the Top 500 attended the Forum. Kou Wei, President of SGCC attended the Summit and delivered a keynote speech at the Entrepreneurs’ Forum themed “Building an Innovative, Responsible, Large and Strong Enterprise”.

        Mr. Kou Wei pointed out that in recent years, SGCC, under the strong leadership of the Central Party Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, has accelerated the pace towards a world-class power grid and a world-class enterprise, and reported progresses in reform and development. First of all, SGCC has supported the implementation of major national strategies. Making full use of the key role of power grids in stabilizing growth, adjusting structure and improving people’s well-being, SGCC has spared no effort to serve the major strategies including the “Belt and Road” Initiative, the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the Rejuvenation of the Old Industrial Bases in Northeast China, air pollution control and poverty alleviation, and gained the recognition of the Central Party Committee and the State Council. Secondly, SGCC has promoted the safe, clean, coordinated and smart development of power grid. During the “13th Five-Year Plan” period, 2 trillion yuan would be put into grid development to accelerate the construction of backbone grids and the upgrade and renovation of urban and rural power distribution grids so as to significantly improve the smart level of power grids. SGCC tops the world in terms of resource allocation, safe operation, installed capacity of wind power and PV power generation. Thirdly, SGCC has made full use of its comprehensive strength in technology, management, capital and brand to “go global”. It has invested in and operates backbone energy networks in seven countries/regions, with a total foreign investment of $15.6 billion and an ROI of nearly 10%. SGCC has also expanded its EPC general contracting business to around the globe with a contract value of nearly $40 billion, helping China to export electric engineering equipment to more than 80 countries. Fourthly, SGCC has mastered key UHV technologies and the world’s most advanced power transmission technology. Large grid operation and control, grid simulation, VSC power transmission and new energy related technologies of SGCC are all among the most advanced in the world.

        According to Mr. Kou, SGCC, as the largest utility in the world, takes the construction and operation of power grids as its core business and serves 1.1 billion people in 26 provinces. SGCC will bear in mind its responsibilities, raise the “four awareness” and give priority to Party-building. It will also deepen reforms of power system, state assets and state-owned enterprises, and grow with peers in the principle of wide consultations, joint contribution and shared benefits, so as to make greater contributions to building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.

        During his stay in Jiangxi, Mr. Kou also attended the meeting with provincial leaders of Jiangxi Province and the Forum on Jiangxi’s Economic Development. State Grid Energy Research Institute organized a parallel panel on “Global Energy Transformation and Green China”
