Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway Power Supply Project: lot 2 & lot 3, which was one of the important supporting projects, ensured that Addis Ababa-Djibouti electrified railway to be electrified. The contract amount was about US$51.72 million.
        Shanghai Electric Power T&D Engineering Co., Ltd as the main contractor of the mentioned project, was well received by local governments and the project owners, with their capabilities of advice on improving the reliability of the railway power grid, good project management, controlled project period.
        The railway was the first exported railway project, with fully China’s standard and technology, was also Africa's first electrified railway. The railway was about 770km long, with the investment from China and design, construction and operation by Chinese Companies. And the successful operation of the railway, improved the safety and efficiency on transportation between Djibouti and Addis Ababa, played a great role on the industrialization and urbanization along the railway area.
