Vinh Tan Coal-fired Power Plant Phase I (BOT), located in Binh Thuan of Vietnam, was invested by China Southern Power Grid, China Power International Development Limited and Vinacomin, which is the first super critical plant equipped with “W” boiler technology including 2 units of 620MW. The duration of the project is 48 months and operation for 25 years. The project was executed by the subsidiaries of Energy China, Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. and Guangdong Power Engineering Co., Ltd., and the project, so far, has been the largest investment project in power sector and has already been listed in the 7th general power planning in Vietnam and one of the major infrastructures. The progress has been completed for 15%, of which design accounts for 36%, procurement takes up 16% while construction occupies 12%. The project is an example directed by “Belt and Road” strategy showing the significance through promoting the economic and trading exchange between China and Vietnam and pushing international production cooperation of equipment manufacture.
