Sahiwal Coal-fired Power Project is located in Punjab, Pakistan. The project has been listed as a "Priority Implementation Project" of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and provided with a series of preferential policies on safety, taxation and financing, etc. With BOT mode, the project is equipped with 2×660MW supercritical coal-fired generating units and is connected to the Pakistani State Grid. The project officially started construction on July 31, 2015. On June 8, 2017, all the two generating units were put into operation and became the largest stand-alone capacity in Pakistan with the most advanced technology, the best environmental targets, the fastest construction speed and the first operational coal-fired project within China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
The project will provide strong support to Pakistan’s power grid, effectively ease the current power shortage in Pakistan and promote local economic development, and will play an important role in maintaining China-Pakistan friendship and promoting the development of the construction of the “Belt and Road Initiative”.
