Lower Se-San 2 Hydropower Project is located in Stung Treng Province of the Kingdom of Cambodia, with total capacity of 400MW, developed in the BOT mode. The project started construction in the beginning of 2014, and completed reservoir impoundment on 25 Sep, 2017. The first 2 units are scheduled to be put into operation by the end of 2017 and the entire project will be put into commercial operation at the end of 2018. The total electric installed capacity of Cambodia will be raised from 1400MW to 1800MW with the completion of the project, which greatly ease the current power shortage and dependence on power imports within the Cambodia.
During the development process, we reasonably hired local personnel to participate in the construction of the project, thus increasing employment of local labors and also improving the living standards of the surrounding communities. In the meantime, in the light of the actual conditions of the surrounding people, we regularly provided assistance and condolence to the impoverished and the elderly that live around the project, improved the teaching facilities in surrounding schools, and effectively carried out assistance activities and earnestly fulfilled corporate social responsibilities, which has won applause from local communities and the government, as a result, we have fostered a good image of China’s enterprise in foreign countries.
The construction of Se-san 2 project is conducive to improving the power supply structure and protection of ecological environment in Cambodia, accelerating the development of hydropower resources in Mekong River basin and boosting local economic development, and playing an active role in promoting the economic and power cooperation between China and Cambodia and the construction of the “Belt and Road Initiative”.
