Mingyang Smart Energy Group has become the first Chinese firm to supply turbines for an offshore wind farm in Japan, after its wind turbines were delivered in Tianjin on Thursday.
This is the second time Mingyang has provided wind turbines to developed countries, after a shipment to Italy. It is also the first time for an offshore wind power project in Japan to use wind turbines produced by Chinese wind turbine manufacturers.
The wind turbines will be applied for a wind power facility off the coast of Nyuzen, a town in central Japan. It can provide electricity to 3,600 households every year. Offshore construction will begin in April and the project is expected to be in operation by the second half of the year.
