Contract for Thwake Multi-purpose Dam Project in Kenya Signed

        On November 15, 2017, CGGC, subsidary of Energy China, signed the Contract for Thwake Multi-purpose Dam Project with the Ministry of Water and Irrigation of Kenya in Nairobi, Capital of Kenya.Among the attendees were Minister and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Water and Irrigation of Kenya, Governor of Kitui County, Governor of Makueni County, senator representatives, and project directors.Principal of CGGC Kenya Branch signed the contract on behalf of CGGC.
        Thwake Multi-purpose Dam Project is located in southeastern Kenya, and is 120km to the capital Nairobi. As for the Project, a concrete face rockfill dam is built for water storage and development of the water resources of Athi River, in a bid to achieve the multi-functional and integrated goal of water supply, power generation and irrigation.This Section is Phase I of the Thwake Multi-purpose Dam Project, which mainly involves the design and construction of dam, water Persion system, power station access roads, the Owner's permanent campsites, and other auxiliary facilities. The contract duration is 53 months.
        The Project will create over 3,000 jobs for local residents, and cultivate a batch of experienced technicians for Kenya, promoting the comprehensive development of local material and equipment providers. After completion, the Project will solve the problem of water shortage suffered by residents around, provide abundant water supply for local agricultural irrigation, create necessary conditions for the hydraulic power generation in Phase II and agricultural irrigation in Phase III of the Project, and ease the power shortage in local areas. The Project will significantly improve the living standards of residents around, promote the economic development of Kenya, and deepen the friendship between the people of China and Kenya.
