Shenhua Helps Shape China's Hydrogen Energy Industry

At the Second International Fuel Cell Vehicle Congress held on Nov. 9, a representative from Shenhua Group announced that making hydrogen energy one of its future priorities, Shenhua has established a hydrogen fueling station in Rugao, eastern China’s Jiangsu Province, while accelerating the R&D of hydrogen fueling station projects in other cities including Xianyang, Shaanxi Province. In the years to come, Shenhua plans to build hydrogen corridors which will eventually form a hydrogen energy industrial structure radiating to all directions.
As the first of its kind developed by Shenhua, the hydrogen fueling station in Rugao covers an area of 2,580 square meters and will be equipped with two hydrogen gas compressors whose flow rate can reach 1,100 normal cubic meters per hour and hydrogen fueling capacity can be up to 1,000 kilograms per day.
When complete, the project is expected to lead the country in hydrogen fueling capacity, while boasting six other “firsts”: China’s first hydrogen fueling station that meets dual international standards, namely Fueling Protocols for Light Duty Gaseous Hydrogen Surface Vehicles and Fueling Protocol for Gaseous Hydrogen Powered Heavy Duty Vehicles; China’s first completely market-oriented, 24-hour hydrogen fueling station with all administrative examination and approval procedures completed; China’s first such commercial facility whose hydrogen quality meets the standards of the Hydrogen Fuel Quality for Fuel Cell Vehicles; China’s first such facility with the largest supply of hydrogen and the greatest hydrogen compression capacity serving the most various types of vehicles; China’s first such facility featuring a fully digitized, big-data platform for hydrogen refueling service that uses artificial intelligence and integrates online management of production safety with precise, real-time data transmission for vehicle networking; and China’s first hydrogen fueling station that provides general education on hydrogen energy to the public.
