January 29, 2026 /CEC/ - The China Electricity Council (CEC) has won multiple awards in a national statistical ethics education campaign organized by China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), according to a recent circular issued by the NBS General Office on the results of the “Integrity, Honesty and Law-Based Statistics” essay, calligraphy, painting and photography competition. Works recommended by CEC achieved the highest overall results among industry associations authorized to conduct official statistical work, both in number of awards and assessed quality.
As a statistical function body for the power sector, CEC organized an industry-wide call for submissions following the launch of the campaign, inviting statistical professionals and related personnel to contribute original works in calligraphy, painting and photography that reflect principles of integrity, honesty and compliance in statistical practice.
The initiative attracted broad participation. After expert evaluation and selection based on merit, CEC submitted two works each in calligraphy, painting and photography for national assessment. Following review by the NBS expert panel, two photographic works received first prize, one painting was awarded second prize and one calligraphy piece received third prize. The award-winning works present professional practice in power-sector statistics and highlight the role of statisticians in maintaining data quality.
