Sinopec Boosts Supply with Expansion of Guangzhou Hydrogen Fuel Center

China Petroleum and Chemical Corp has recently completed an expansion of its hydrogen fuel cell supply center in Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong province, increasing its daily production capacity to 15 metric tons of 99.999 percent pure hydrogen, totaling an annual output of 5,100 tons.

This development establishes it as the largest hydrogen fuel cell supply center in South China, significantly enhancing the region's hydrogen energy supply and supporting the rapid growth of the hydrogen industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, said the company, also known as Sinopec.

Prior to the expansion, the facility's annual hydrogen production capacity was 1,500 tons. The recent upgrade has more than tripled this capacity, enabling continuous hydrogen supply to cities such as Guangzhou, Foshan and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Sinopec has been actively advancing its hydrogen energy infrastructure, having built 11 hydrogen fuel cell supply centers nationwide in addition to 142 hydrogen refueling stations across the country, integrating hydrogen production and refueling capabilities to promote the adoption of hydrogen energy.
